Combatives refers to any hand-to-hand combat system utilised by military, law enforcement, and security personnel. It encompasses a wide range of martial arts, such as boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, to help those on duty effectively respond to the challenges they face in their roles.
In combatives, the scope of combat includes four key areas: striking, takedowns, ground fighting, and weapons. In contrast, MMA focuses solely on striking, takedowns, and ground fighting, with no consideration of weapons. Because of this, combatives training often incorporates the potential threat of weapons and environmental factors that can impact life-or-death situations.
At T1 Combatives, we take pride in being the first provider of tactical combatives in Singapore to emphasise grappling. With our extensive knowledge in MMA and grappling, combined with our experience in special forces units, we are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between military/law enforcement training, real-life scenarios involving weapons, and combat sports concepts — an integration that makes us very unique in this field.
