TACTGRAP™ 1.0 is a foundational 3 day course designed to equip trainees with essential self-defense skills. With a strong emphasis on grappling—a critical component in most real-world confrontations—we teach trainees the fundamentals of hand fighting, control, and how to adapt sport-based grappling techniques for street scenarios, where factors like weapons and environmental hazards come into play. Additionally, we educate trainees on when to avoid grappling altogether, as certain situations, such as facing multiple attackers, can make grappling a dangerous choice.
Developed and led by our team of ex-special forces instructors with expertise in both land and maritime operations, this course provides practical self-defense knowledge tailored for real-world applications. What sets our program apart from others is our focus on training with fully resisting, unchoreographed opponents in a controlled environment. This approach gives trainees a realistic understanding of what street self-defense truly entails. After all, if a technique doesn’t work in the gym, it won’t work on the streets.
The TACTGRAP™ 1.0 consists of learning basic takedowns as in any self defense scenario you will want to have the ability to dictate where the fight goes on your terms if you are unable to disengage and get to safety. Learning takedowns also helps gives you an understanding of defending against takedowns so that you don't end up at the bottom which can be dangerous in a self defense situation. Next would be learning how to be in a dominant position once on the ground and also how to defend yourself in the event you end up on the bottom involuntarily. Below is the course outline for the 3 days course which lasts approximately 7 hours.
Course Outline:
Day 1 (140 mins) - Introduction to basic warm ups, breakfalls, common attacks and takedowns for self defense situations.
Module 2 (130 mins) - Introduction to basic ground positional concepts and how to defend from them if you involuntarily end up there. Learn distance management, leverage and weight placement.
Module 3 (140 mins) - Introduction to attacking concepts from these common ground positions in a self defense scenario.
